No to Indigence

Poverty... Poverty... Poverty...

Poverty in the Philippines, our BIGGEST problem and our BIGGEST issue.

Cliche as it may seem but then, it is the truth. It is a fact. It is a reality. It is what we Filipinos are experiencing right now... and that's poverty.

Whenever I go to town and happen to pass by the street children, I would come to realize how lucky I am to able study... to be able to have a home... to be able to buy things that I need... to be able to eat three times a day... and to be able to have a one big happy family. Truly, I pity them so much. I pity them because they are deprived of things that they need and want. Sometimes, I just asked myself 'why?', 'how come?', 'where are their parents?' or 'where do they live?'

When I entered a new chapter of my life, college , I much more caught a glimpse of the street children. I always see them. I always witness them. And I heard something about them. I heard that there are some 'syndicates' and the like.

I had one experience wherein I had a conversation with two of the street children. And I asked them 'san napupunta ang pera niyo? may kumukuha ng pera niyo sa inyo nuh?' The other one said 'opo' but the other boy straightaway said 'wala'. I was curious of their answers. It was totally an opposite. Personally, perhaps the second boy only hides the truth or what. Honestly speaking, I do not always give them money. Or if I will, it would not be that big. But for me, one of the things to help them is to make them friends+_+ do not be hesitant to talk to/with them!

I hope one day, these people would reach their dreams in life. And I hope that poverty will not be existing anymore.hmmm...

But then, despite the fact that we Filipinos are economically challenged, the best thing about us is...

we still do not forget to
enjoy life to the fullest!

=))

  1. i also wish that they would be able to reach their dreams. And if they are parts of a syndicate, then giving them money isn't the right thing to do. I remembered what ate ABC told us. It is wiser to give them foods than money.

  2. i remember your friend, who happen to always ask a peso from us...

it's a sad thing to know that they are the ones who find ways for them to have something to eat. it's so sadden when you can't just give them money for the reason of maybe they are just part of a syndicate but then, i agree with you, it is so nice to make friends with them. the feeling of 'reaching out' and understanding their world is really a nice feeling...

we Filipinos are known for happy people, despite the problems we have, we always have and are ready to carry smiles on our faces

  3. I also hope that they will be able to reach their dreams also, or if not, I hope that they will not forever stay in the streets, that some good samaritan will come and offer them homes to stay.

  4. I really wish that there is still hope for children in the streets. I feel pity too whenever I see them. I honestly get annoyed a little to them, but there is still a hint of sympathy. We are lucky to have comfy homes and I hope that in the near future, there will be solutions to this problem.
